Get the layout right first
Two rooms of the same size can need different lighting. Corners, cabinets and ceiling features create shadows. Tell us the room and what you’re fitting, and we’ll suggest how many points you need and where.

Ceiling fans
A ceiling fan needs a secure fixing into the ceiling and a suitable point. We check what your ceiling is made of, including false ceilings, before we mount it. If there’s only a light point where you want the fan, we’ll tell you whether it can be used or needs changing.
Chandeliers and heavy fittings
Heavy fittings need proper support, not just the light point. We check the weight and the ceiling and fix it so it stays put.
Exposed or concealed wiring?
Exposed (in trunking): cheaper and faster, no hacking, and easy to add points later. It is more visible and needs care when repainting.
Concealed (in the wall): neater, but it needs hacking, so it’s usually done during a renovation. Repairs later may mean opening the wall again.
HDB has specific rules on hacking walls for concealed wiring. Tell us your property type and we’ll advise what’s allowed.
What affects the price
The number and type of fittings, whether new light points or switches are needed, ceiling height and type, and exposed or concealed wiring. Tell us what you’re installing, ideally with a photo, and we’ll agree the price before we start.

Often, yes. We check the point, the wiring and the ceiling first and tell you if anything needs changing.

Can you install lights in a false ceiling?
Yes. We check access and support above the false ceiling before fitting downlights, fans or heavier lights.
How many downlights do I need?
