Common causes

Why LED lights flicker
Most LED downlights and panels have a small driver that converts the power for the LEDs. When the driver starts to fail, the light flickers, dims or switches itself off. Flicker can also come from a dimmer switch that doesn’t suit LEDs, or a loose connection in the switch or fitting. If one light flickers, it’s usually that fitting. If several flicker together, look at the switch or wiring they share.
What you can check yourself
Try a bulb you know works, and check whether other lights on the same switch or in the same room still work. If a whole room or several rooms are dark, look for a tripped switch in your DB box.
Please don’t open light fittings or switch plates yourself. That’s where the risk is.

Why do my LED downlights flicker?
Most often the LED driver is failing. It can also be a dimmer that doesn’t suit LEDs, or a loose connection. Replacing the driver is often enough, without changing the whole fitting.
Is a flickering light dangerous?
A single flickering bulb usually isn’t. Flicker across several lights, or a switch that feels warm, can mean a loose connection that heats up. Get that checked.
Do I need to replace the whole light?
Not always. If the fitting is in good condition, we can often replace just the driver or the switch.
