SG Electrician rewires older HDB flats, condos, landed homes, shops and offices, including DB box and circuit breaker replacement. Work is carried out under an EMA-licensed electrical worker (LEW), quoted after a site visit, and covered by a 90-day workmanship warranty.
Rewiring for homes, shops and offices
We rewire older homes, usually during a renovation or after repeated power trips. We also handle rewiring for shops and offices.
What rewiring can cover
- DB box and circuit breakers
- Power points and switches
- Light points and fan points
- Water heater and aircon points

DB box replacement and upgrades
The DB box (distribution board) holds the main switch, the RCCB that protects against current leaking to earth, and a breaker (MCB) for each circuit. Older boxes may lack modern protection or have too few circuits for today’s appliances. Replacing or upgrading the box is often part of a rewiring job, and sometimes the main reason for it.
Signs you may need rewiring
- Power trips that keep coming back
- Scorched sockets or switches
- Lights that flicker across several rooms
- Wiring that hasn’t been updated in decades
- A renovation that adds new appliances or rooms
Licensed work
In Singapore, electrical installation work must be carried out by, or under, a licensed electrical worker. Our rewiring and DB box work is done under an EMA-licensed electrical worker (LEW).
How a rewiring job runs
- You WhatsApp us your property type (for example HDB 4-room, condo or landed), what you’d like done and a few photos.
- We arrange a site visit, check the existing wiring and DB box, and give you a quote.
- We agree the scope and schedule, often around your renovation.
- We do the work, test every circuit and give you a receipt with our 90-day workmanship warranty.
Exposed or concealed wiring?
Exposed (in trunking): cheaper and faster, no hacking, and easy to add points later. It is more visible and needs care when repainting.
Concealed (in the wall): neater, but it needs hacking, so it’s usually done during a renovation. Repairs later may mean opening the wall again.
HDB has specific rules on hacking walls for concealed wiring. Tell us your property type and we’ll advise what’s allowed.
What affects the price
Every home is different, so we quote after seeing it. The main factors are the size of the property, full or partial rewiring, exposed or concealed wiring, the number of points, and whether the DB box is being replaced.
- EMA-licensed electricians (LEW)

Common questions
Do I need to rewire my whole home?
Not always. Partial rewiring of the circuits that are causing problems, or the ones affected by a renovation, is common. We’ll tell you what’s needed after the site visit.
How do I know if my DB box needs replacing?
Warning signs include frequent trips, breakers that feel warm, a burning smell from the box, or an old box with no RCCB. Send us a photo and we’ll take a look.
Is it better to rewire during a renovation?
Usually, yes, especially for concealed wiring, since walls are already being worked on. Tell us your renovation timeline and we’ll plan around it.
Are there HDB rules for rewiring?
HDB has rules on hacking walls for concealed wiring. Tell us your flat type and we’ll advise what’s allowed.
